Work Place

“We must work together to ensure the equitable distribution of wealth, opportunity, and power in our society.”- Nelson Mandela

It is because the organizers of Race in The Heartland agree, that we ask the tough questions to ensure we are doing our part in creating a diverse and culturally competent tomorrow. Some of those questions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • How have my own biases affected my coworkers or overall work environment?
  • Is our business/organization culturally competent?
  • Is the way our business/organization operates equitable for our staff and customers?
  • Does hiring discrimination occur in the practices within my business/organization, without us knowing?
  • How can my company contribute to reducing the local unemployment rate while still getting quality talent?
  • Do all high school students have access to a quality CTE program to prepare them for the work force?
  • AND MORE…….

While we cant touch on every topic at this year’s conference, we hope to continue exploring all variables in conferences to come. In order for you to view data which inspired some of the topics to be discussed, the following links have been provided for your convenience.
